Papers and correspondence of David Kirby, 1932-1969. Zoologist

The papers consist of laboratory notebooks, lecture notes, research grant applications, and some scientific correspondence.

Kirby was educated at Melton Mowbray Grammar School and, after National Service in the RAF, Durham University. He began his research career in the Department of Zoology, Oxford University where he became Senior Research Officer. His principal research interests were in embryology and reproductive physiology. In 1965 he was appointed Fellow and Tutor in Zoology at St Catherine's College, Oxford. He died after injuries received in a road accident.
