Administrative / Biographical History
Edward Ross Wharton (1844-1896), Fellow of Jesus College, Oxford, was a philologer and genealogist. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Acquisition Information
The papers were deposited in the Library by Mrs Wharton, 1897-8, and after her death were presented by her executors in 1899.
