Scope and Content

Whereas by Indenture of Lease and release dated 22 and 23 May 1828 between John Quantock and Frances Herne his wife, William Henry Robien Bettesworth and Sophia his wife, John Trevanion Purnell Bettesworth Trevanion, John Hearle Tremayne, Peter Dobree, James Dobree, Thomas Ginger of Edlesborough and Charles Willis certain lands in Edlesborough were conveyed to Thomas Ginger with power of appointment; and whereas David Lee Willis of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, has agreed to lend to Thomas Ginger a certain sum by a mortgage of certain of the lands; Thomas Ginger appoints that certain lands in Edlesborough shall go to the use of David Lee Willis for the term of one thousand years, and he sells them to the same for the same term subject to a proviso for redemption by the payment of the sum borrowed with interest by a certain date. Witnesses: Frederick Willis, George Gillon, clerk to Messrs. Willis, Leighton Buzzard. On the back is a receipt for the sum lent signed by Thomas Ginger. Witnesses: the same. One seal is attached.
