Scope and Content

Programmes and posters of Welsh and English productions by Cwmni Theatr Cymru, 1966 - 1981.

Administrative / Biographical History

Cwmni Theatr Cymru (The Welsh Theatre Company) was established in 1965. It had two centres, one in Bangor and one in Cardiff, but no permanent home. The aim of the company was to travel with its productions, which were either performed in Welsh or English.

Amongst the members of the managerial committee of the company were Dr Thomas Parry, Alun Llywelyn Wililams and Helen Ramage. The Marquess of Anglesey acted as president.

Cwmni Theatr Cymru was supported by a grant from the Welsh Arts Council, but ceased production in the early 1980's.
