Administrative / Biographical History

The Water Companies' Association was founded on 13 April 1885 as the Provincial Water Companies' Association. The Association changed its title to the Water Companies' Association in 1919. The committee structure of the Association was complex as an Executive Council co-existed with an Executive Committee. The Executive Council comprised representatives of the water companies. The Water Companies' Association amalgamated with the Water Services Asssociation in April 1998 to form Water UK, which became the trade association for the industry.
