Scope and Content

Rules, 1911; minutes of meetings with the executive council of the Scotch Ironfounders, and from June 1907 with the executive of the Scottish Employers' Federation of Iron and Steel Founders, 1905-1908, 1911-1913; monthly reports of the Associated Iron Moulders of Scotland, 1875 - 1920, lacking 1883 - 1884; notes on Cart Navigation, 1913; deeds relating to land and property on the south side of George Street, Glasgow, 1837-1906.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Scottish Iron Moulders' Union was formed in 1831, as a result of a takeover of the Scottish Iron Moulders Friendly Society by James Dunn. In 1869 the name was changed to the Associated Iron Moulders of Scotland. In 1875 it affiliated to the Trades Union Congress. It amalgamated in 1920 with the Friendly Society of Iron Founders of England, Ireland and Wales and the Amalgamated Society of Coremakers of Great Britain and Ireland to form the National Union of Foundry Workers.
