Administrative / Biographical History

Mary Margaret Toomey was born in Glasgow on 12 Nov 1915  , the daughter of William Toomey, a tailor. She attended the University of Glasgow from 1934 - 1938 and graduated with a second class Honours M.A. in English Language and Literature on 12 Nov 1938  . In addition to her honours level English course, Mary studied French (Ordinary), History (Ordinary) and Compative Literature. She became a teacher and married Henry Hughes. Mrs Hughes died on 15 Jan 2012.
