Deeds of Ioan Glynne, Solicitor

Scope and Content

This collection consists of twelve deeds (item numbers: 6817-6828), dating from 1706 to 1803, which relate to Tyddyn Isaf, home of the Lloyds. Item number 6829 is a transcript of an abstract of title (possibly by Ioan Glynne) listing deeds dating from 1803 to 1869, relating to the property in question.

Administrative / Biographical History

The twelve deeds in this collection relate to Tyddyn Isaf (also known as Cymryd), a township in the parish of Y Gyffin in Gwynedd. This was the home of the depositor, Ioan Glynne's ancestors, the Lloyds, who were descended from Dafydd ap Rhys of Llwydiarth, High Sheriff of Anglesey from 1566 to 1567. Featuring in the deeds are Henry Lloyd (1647-1726), his son Griffith Lloyd (d. 1732), Henry Lloyd II (d. 1740) and Samuel Foulkes (1735-1823).
