Scope and Content

The memorandum, written in Dec. 1975, refers to incidents mentioned in his Once a District Officer (London, Macmillan 1966), details of which he was precluded from publishing at that time. The topics are: the Portuguese administration in Mozambique 1926-28 and Achewa refugees from forced labour recruitment; the sectarian attitudes of missionary societies in Northern Rhodesia, 1926 - 39; Watchtower (Jehovah's Witnesses).

Administrative / Biographical History

Sir Kenneth served in Northern Rhodesia from 1926 - 1942. He was founder editor of Corona, the journal of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service, and also Director of the Imperial (later Commonwealth) Institute.
