Scope and Content

Agreements of both Federations (Midland and National) with trade unions, awards of its committee on Production, and papers relating to the Federation's amalgamation with the Engineering Employers' Federation, 1911-1918; printed items, including reports of general meetings, 1916-1917, and a list of members, 1917.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1917, the Midland Employers' Federation became the National Employers' Federation. The NEF was subsequently to merge with the Engineering Employers' Federation (MSS.237) in 1918. The merger was of particular significance in Birmingham and the Black Country, where the bulk of the NEF's members were located.
