Scope and Content

The papers include surveys and valuations of the parish of East Meon, Hampshire, 1820 and 1852; volumes relating to the farm held by W.J.Ray at Cheriton, including accounts of corn and stock bought and sold, 1835-54; winnowing account book, 1836-72 (the first part transcribed 'from another book so as to be able to refer to the quantities grown each year and the average per acre, with average prices for what sold for'); a family memorandum book, 1845-63; a farming memorandum book, 1861-78; a labour book, 1860-71; and accounts of William Ray with John Butcher, for general provisions, 1867-1873.
