Unpublished manuscript of the first act of Victorian melodrama 'The Bane and Antidote or The Worship of Baccus: an illustrative and moral melodrama'.

Administrative / Biographical History

There is no known published edition of this title, although there is record of a production at the Olympic Theatre, London, on 21 July 1879, under the subtitle 'The Worship of Bacchus'. There were three earlier English versions of the French play, appearing between 1827 and 1831.
