Scope and Content

The letters cover the whole period of the friendship between Martin Johnson and Walter de la Mare. They contain references to the writings of both men, as well as personal and family information.

Administrative / Biographical History

Martin Johnson was a scientist who lectured at Birmingham University. He wrote a number of scientific books, for one of which Walter de la Mare wrote the foreword, Art and scientific thought (London, [1944]). Walter de la Mare was an author and poet.
