Torkel Weis-Fogh: Scientific Papers and Correspondence

Scope and Content

The collection is comprised of a small amount of biographical material (with very little personal materials), materials covering Weis-Fogh's work on locust flight up to his 1958 discovery of resilin, materials related to his research in Copenhagen and Cambridge, some items pertaining to Weis-Fogh's lectures, addresses, and publications, as well as his participation in conferences, visits and lecture tours, and a selection of professional correspondence in English, Danish, German and Swedish.

Access Information

Unless restrictions apply, the collection is open for consultation by researchers using the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library. For further details on conditions governing access please contact mss@lib.cam.ac.uk. Information about opening hours and obtaining a Cambridge University Library reader's ticket is available from the Library's website (www.lib.cam.ac.uk).

Acquisition Information

Weis-Fogh's papers were received from the Department of Zoology, by courtesy of Dr. D.A. Parry, Head of the Department, in instalments during 1978 after the removal of departmental material or that related to continuing research projects. This meant that Weis-Fogh's ordering, especially of the later correspondence, had been broken and there are some omissions (see especially Section D).
