Material relating to the death of Napoleon Bonaparte on St. Helena, comprising five pencil sketches of Bonaparte and Longwood House by Capt. Guy Rotton, 1821, with an explanatory note by Hearl, and Translation du cerceuil de 'Empereur Napolon bord de la frgate La Belle-Poule... by Durand-Brager (Paris, Gide, 1844), with a photocopy of the text.

Administrative / Biographical History

Trevor W. Hearl (fl 1966-1992), writer, is one of the main authorities on St. Helena and has amassed a collection of biographical data for the island. He has also been involved with the St. Helena Link, an organisation offering support for local education and welfare. He has published A 17th century surgeon at St. Helena. Francis Moore, 1674-1682 (Cheltenham, T. Hearl, 1991), worked as joint editor on The laws and constitution for the island of St. Helena, 1682 (Cheltenham, T.W. Hearl for the St. Helena Link, 1991), and written William Barnes, 1801-1886. The schoolmaster...A study in education in the life and work of the Dorset poet (Dorchester, Longmans, 1966).
