Cartulary: Casa delle Donzelle alla Zudecca, Venice

Scope and Content

'Registro delle scritture spettanti all' habitation della Casa delle Donzelle alla Zudecca; et de i legati di detta Casa', a cartulary containing copies of documents from 1330, when land was granted by Doge Francesco Dandolo, to 1678. There are 91 text folios (Ff.1-89, documents; Ff. 90-91, index), with two further paper folios inserted at the beginning. The documents are copied in various hands, with several elaborate pen-and-ink capitals, some with the initials of scribes. On the flyleaf it reads 'Cattastico nominato Negro - No 1'. A paper insert reads 'Copia tratta dal libro intitulato Cattastico Negro a Carte 47 Tergo'.
