'Khandhapura' [The city of the aggregates], also called "Weng Sauk" [the city of one foot]

Scope and Content

Buddhist teaching of Abhidhamma or philosophical doctrine. Local hand-made paper produced from the bark of the mulberry (known in Shan local as 'sar') tree. The text is written in the old Shan script. The text is incomplete; there is no pagination, nor any form of page numbering. There are 5 drawings of Thai arts on one side of the manuscript, apparently made at a later date, very likely covering the text with new background colours. The position of the images of the drawings is opposed to the positioning of the text, indicating that the artist who made the images was unable to read the text/script. 'Hs 59 59 264' is found on the last page.
