The EMOHA oral history collection, 1960s-2020s

Scope and Content

This oral history collection comprises 187 items, mostly oral history recordings but also broadcasts, other sound recordings and printed material. It is the result of both ongoing projects by the East Midlands Oral History Archive and recordings given to the Archive. The interviews in this collection cover a wide range of themes and topics relating mostly to residents of Leicester and Leicestershire in the 20th and 21st centuries. Subjects include memories of childhood toys and games, recollections of World War Two, youth culture in 1950s and 1960s Leicester, migration to Leicester, and a broad range of working lives.

Administrative / Biographical History

These recordings are a result of specific projects and individual interviews carried out by EMOHA staff since 2001, and recordings donated to EMOHA by individuals.
