Scope and Content

An audio cassette recording of a conversation between Maggie Bird (formerly Mrs. Margaret Waddington and nee Shufflebottom) and Brian Steptoe on 15th June, 1993 at Bramerton, Norfolk. There is a ten page transcript to accompany the recording.

Administrative / Biographical History

Brian Steptoe is an established author and photographer with an interest in traditional fairground amusements. He has been involved with publications and publicity about the vintage funfair scene since 1994. He publishes regular reports for a number of carousel websites and is a contributor to Old Glory magazine. He holds a Fellowship Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society. Brian undertakes photographic work for a number of travelling showmen, including photography for Carters books and has been commissioned to write, design, undertake photography and supply images for museums, showmen, books and calendars.
