Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Established in 1943 by the Association of Master Lightermen and Barge Owners (Port of London), the Tyne Wherry Owners' Association, the Liverpool Lighter and Barge Owners' Association, the Hull River Craft and Lighter Owners' Association, and the Bristol Bargeowners' Committee. The Association of Master Lightermen and Barge Owners was the lead member and provided the secretariat. It existed until at least 1972.
