The papers comprise six letters from Constance Ryley to her aunt before and during her time at Girton. The letters cover subjects such as the entrance examination, daily life at Girton, her College room, societies, World War I, study and singing lessons. There is also a testimonial (July 1921) from A Y Campbell, Fellow and Classical Lecturer of St John's College.

Administrative / Biographical History
Constance Whitehorn (nee Ryley) came up to Girton from King Edward VI Grammar School, Birmingham to read Classics 1917-21 (MA 1928). She was a Higgens Scholar. In 1921, she married the Rev. Roy Whitehorn who went on to become Principal of Westminster College, Cambridge while she undertook committee work, writing and speaking for the Central Organisation of Women's Church Work. Constance Ryley lost her mother when she was aged six and appears to have been very close to her aunt.
