Administrative / Biographical History
The Company of Cutlers was founded in 1624 by an Act of Incorporation, which gave the Company authority over the cutlery industry in Hallamshire, i.e. an area covering the southern part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Sheffield is the capital of Hallamshire. The Master Cutler holds office for one year
