Diary of a holiday in Leominster

Scope and Content

The diary records a two week holiday in Leominster, Herefordshire. Many entries relate to church architecture and the surrounding environment. Some members of the local aristocracy are mentioned and the anonymous author records some national affairs. He notes the election of William Gladstone as Chancellor of the Exchequer and on 26 June learns, by telegram, of the Battle of Solferino [part of the Second Italian War of Independence].
