Scope and Content

Set of albums of engravings (some hand-coloured) and photographs of churches, UK and overseas.

The collection of albums is associated with the historic archives of the City of Canterbury Council. It is unknown where the albums originated from, who was responsible for their creation and how they came to be associated with the City of Canterbury Council, but it is probable that they were the work of one individual, as the annotations throughout are in the same hand.

The images are of an enormous variety of churches both nationally and internationally. Some of the international churches featured include those in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Tokyo.
