Administrative / Biographical History

Ellis Jones (fl. 1846-1896) lived at Llymgwyn, near Abererch, in the parish of Llannor, Caernarfonshire. His brother, William (fl. 1893-1938), bred Welsh Black Cattle and Shire Horses and bought Plas y Bryn, Llanbedr, Merionethshire, in 1896. Ellis' son, also Ellis Jones (fl. 1907-[1970s]), was born at Llymgwyn but went to Plas y Bryn in 1907. He moved to Newcastle as a land estate agent in 1911, then to York in 1915 and was stationed in Gibraltar during the First World War. He returned to Wales to live in the 1970s.
