Scope and Content

Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Bridge Committee, held to receive a report of the discussions between a deputation from the Conwy Bridge Commissioners and Officials of the Ministry of Works as to the possibility of building a new bridge to replace the existing suspension bridge. Also, minutes of a Special Meeting of the Estate Committee to receive a report on Conwy Castle and Town Walls.

Administrative / Biographical History

The suspension bridge located in the town of Conwy in Caernarfonshire was designed and built by Thomas Telford and completed in 1826.

Conwy Castle was built between 1283 and 1289 and the town wall is contemporary with the castle.
