Includes churchwardens' records, including church site and building papers, 1943-1957; Vestry/Parochial Church Council records, including Treasurer's account book and financial papers, 1964-1980, District Church Council papers, 1967-1992, and papers concerning sale of part of mission church land, 1982-1988.

Administrative / Biographical History

Tollerton is part of the parish of Alne and was served by the parish church of St Mary, Alne, until the erection of a mission church in 1955, although a chapel certainly existed there in the sixteenth century.
The church was refurbished in 1980 and was subsequently dedicated to St Michael. It has since been extended to create two new meeting rooms, a kitchen and a vestry.
Today the village is part of the benefice of Alne, which also includes Alne and Aldwark.

Records are open to the public, subject to the overriding provisions of relevant legislation, including data protection laws. 24 hours' notice is required to access photographic material.

The archive was deposited at the Borthwick Institute in 1996 by the churchwarden.
