The book is mainly concerned with the economic and political aspects of Australia's post-war development, and was aimed at prospective 'New Australians'. It was published by Ernest Benn Ltd in the Nations of the Modern World series. The published version has a foreword by William Keith Hancock, which is absent from this proof copy.
