Administrative / Biographical History
This private bank was established in 1765 by William Haydon, a draper, in Guildford. It was styled Messrs Haydons until about 1860 when William Haydon Smallpiece became a partner. In 1883, when it held customer balances of about £140,000, it was acquired by Capital & Counties Bank (est. 1877).
