Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Formed in 1902 by the amalgamation of the Northern Trimmers' and Teemers' Association (formed in South Shields in 1893) and the Tyne and Blyth Trimmers' and Teemers' Association (formed in 1876 as the Northumberland Dock Trimmers' and Teemers' Association and renamed in 1894), the North of England Trimmers' and Teemers' Association was one of the founder members of the Transport and General Workers' Union in 1922. It was headquartered in Newcastle and represented dockside coal workers.
