Comprises a typescript volume entitled Chronicles of my family by A. J. Bodvel Roberts which is a genealogical account of the author's family with details relating to their occupations, lifestyles etc.

Administrative / Biographical History

Arthur John Bodvel Roberts, born in 1871, of Cefn-y-coed, Llanfaglan in Caernarfonshire, north Wales was clerk of the peace for the county of Caernarfonshire from 1903 until his resignation in 1932. His parents were John Hugh Roberts (1836-1904), who served as Caernarfon town clerk, and Gwen Bodvel Jones (1844-1925). His paternal grandfather's family were the Roberts and Griffiths of Plas Clynnog and Caernarfon; his paternal grandmother's family were descendents of the Cadwaladr, Morris and Roberts families of Eithinog. His maternal grandparents were David Jones of Cefn-y-coed and Gwen Ellen Jones of Chatham. Also on his maternal side was Margaret (Peggy) Hughes of Bodafon whose ancestors were the Bodvels of Carnguwch, Carmarthenshire.
