[NB: This collection comprises two sets of AACS/AAOCS volumes - the first of annual reports only (MSS.467/4/1) donated by the library and a set of quarterly and annual reports (MSS.467/4/2) from the John Rylands library; there is some overlap between the series]

Administrative / Biographical History

The Amalgamated Association of Cotton Spinners, etc. of Lancashire and Adjoining Counties was flourishing in 1883 and adopted the title of Amalgamated Association of Operative Cotton Spinners and Twiners in 1915. It was a federation of independent local societies, each having rules of its own, with full power over its funds and benefits.

Acquisition Information

These publications came to the Centre via J. Hodgson, John Rylands Library, Manchester (May 2006) except for the three volumes of annual reports 1883-1912 (MSS.467/4/1) which were transferred from the University Library (Old ref: 41T).
