Administrative / Biographical History

Sir James Bland Burges (1752-1824), was an author, barrister, member of parliament and under-secretary of state at the Foreign Office. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography. A pedigree of the Burges family is in Burke's Peerage, Baronetage and Knightage (1925 edition, under Lamb).
