The papers are composed of: notes and correspondence about translation of the Anglo-SaxonHeliand; manuscript of the introduction to the translation; sermons; diary; photos; and, diplomas, degrees etc.

Robert George Philip was a graduate of Aberdeen University. He was awarded the degree of M.A. there in 1888, and a D.D. in 1895.
