E P Smith's notes dealing with botanical research work and teaching, with particular reference to Quercus (the oak), Tilia, Acer, and Platanus; manuscript and typescript, with illustrations c1927-1951; items concerning scientific expedition sent out by University College, Dundee, to island of South Rona in July 1933.

Administrative / Biographical History

Edith Smith, B.A., Ph.D., F.L.S., D.Sc., F.R.S.E., was Lecturer in Botany at University College, Dundee (from 1954 Queen's College, Dundee) between 1926 and 1960. From 1955 to 1960 she was head of the department and for a time she was an instructor in genetics.
