Administrative / Biographical History

The National Union of Government Employees was formerly the Government Labourers' Union of Great Britain and Ireland. Headquartered in Portsmouth, it represented labourers in HM Dockyards and other government establishments. It amalgamated with the Workers' Union in 1920.
