Scope and Content

This collection contains: minutes of executive council and other meetings; 'Pearl Agents' Gazette' (monthly) and other publications; industrial tribunal cases; minutes of branch meeting in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1926 the Pearl Section of the National Amalgamated Union of Life Assurance Workers broke away to form the National Union of Pearl Agents. In 1964 the National Union of Pearl Agents was succeeded by the Pearl Section of the National Union of Insurance Workers (successor to the National Amalgamated Union of Life Assurance Workers). The Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs (ASTMS) Pearl Section succeeded the Pearl Section of the National Union of Insurance Workers in 1974.
