After attending Stonelaw Higher Grade Public School in Rutherglen, Paisley Grammar School and the W.B. Barbour Academy, Margaret Gregg studied at the Glasgow Provincial Training College. Following graduation in 1919, she took up the post of assistant teacher at the Sir John Maxwell Public School, Pollokshaws.
