The collection forms part of the archive of the British Clothing Industry Association (MSS.222), in which the records of various predecessor and related organisations are contained.

Administrative / Biographical History

The LCCMA was founded in 1909 as the Lancashire and Cheshire Wholesale Clothiers Association, later changing its name to the Lancashire and Cheshire Wholesale Clothing and Mantle Manufacturers' Association in 1942, the Lancashire and Cheshire Clothing, Mantle and Rainwear Manufacturers' Association in 1954, and the Lancashire and Cheshire Clothing Manufacturers' Association in 1967.

The records in this collection were added to the British Clothing Industry Association deposit in the Modern Records Centre following the winding up of the LCCMA, consequent on the establishment of the BCIA.
