Henry de Kirkestede: Catalogus Scriptorum Ecclesie

Scope and Content

A transcript of a catalogue of the works of patristic and medieval writers on monastic libraries. Writers are arranged in alphabetical order, and under each appear the titles of their separate works with the number of vols to each, incipits, and explicits, and numbers indicating the libraries in which they are to be found. A key is at fos 10-12. Preface at fos 1-10. Fos 149-51: list of Biblical commentators. P. 152: six lines of verse, beginning 'Qui legis hunc librum scriptoris Rex miserere ...'Attached to fo. 1: leaf carrying extracts from register of William Monash, prior of Christ Church, Canterbury, with notes in same hand, the sheet having originally been addressed, in another hand, to Tanner as 'chancellor in Norwich'. The transcript is by Thomas Tanner.
