Administrative / Biographical History

The United Order of General Labourers of London was formed in 1878. In 1918 it was renamed the United Order of General Labourers of Great Britain and Ireland. Its members voted against joining the amalgamation which formed the Transport and General Workers' Union in 1922, but it did amalgamate with the T&G in 1924.
