Simon Michael Clegg was born on the 15th of August 1961  and attended the University of Glasgow , Scotland from 1987. He was a part-time student until 1989 before going on to full-time study until his graduation with MA in 1992  . The main courses that Clegg attended were related to Film and Television Studies, but he also took English Language and Philosophy during his time at university. The General Council Register lists Clegg as an Antique dealer.
