Approximately 200 written-up pages, neatly completed in ink in a calligraphic hand, ruled in blue throughout, with numerous text figures, contemporary black half roan over marbled boards. In fine state of preservation. Written by David Richmond of Grewelthorpe, six miles north of Ripon in Yorkshire. The manuscript includes a long (ca. 105pp.) section of Merchants Accounts by Double Entry and a further section (ca. 19pp.) of Practical Questions (on book-keeping).

David Richmond was born c1833 in Kirkby Malzeard, Yorkshire. He married Jane [b1845] of Grewelthorpe, and had an adopted daughter Jessie Maria [b1878]. He was educated at Messrs Lomas & Sons Academy at
Kirklington.
