Administrative / Biographical History
The origins of this organisation can be traced to Workers' Fight, a Trotskyist group which formed part of the International Communist League which, in the run-up to the 1979 General Election, allied itself with the Chartist Collective to form the Socialist Campaign for a Labour Victory, which later changed its name to the Socialist Organiser Alliance. This was dissolved in response to the rejection of the application to register Socialist Organiser with the Labour Party in 1990, and in 1992 the editors of Socialist Organiser launched the AWL.
