This colletion includes: rule books, 1913 and 1918; minutes of general council, 1873-1893; proceedings of the annual moveable general council, 1905-1914; minutes of no.1 divisional council, 1919-1920; minutes of executive council, 1919-1920; annual reports, 1861-1920; yearly returns of members' payments, 1871-1920; quarterly balance sheets of branches, 1908-1920; out of limits (arrears) list, 1871; 'Trade Circular and General Reporter', 1861-1922; branch records, 1870-1933.

The Operative Bricklayers' Society (also known briefly as the London Order of Operative Bricklayers' Society) was formed in 1848 after divisions in the Operative Society of Bricklayers led to a split between the Manchester and London branches of the society. In 1921 the Operative Society of Masons, Quarrymen and Allied Trades of England and Wales, the Manchester Unity of Operative Bricklayers' Society and the London Order of Operative Bricklayers' Society amalgamated to form the Amalgamated Union of Building Trade Workers (AUBTW).
