Administrative / Biographical History

The Union of Saddlers, Harness Makers, Collar Makers and Bridle Cutters became the Union of Saddlers, Harness Makers, Collar Makers and Bridle Cutters, Mill Band Makers and Leather Workers in Saddlery in 1898. This changed to the Union of Saddlers and General Leather Workers in 1913.

In 1928 this union amalgamated with the National Society of Portmanteau Makers, Trunk, Bag and Fancy Leather Workers and the Sheffield Fancy Leather Workers to form the National Union of Leather Workers.
