Scope and Content

Tour through Scotland and the Borders of England made in the years 1791 and 1792.

The unknown author travelled by horseback on both journeys. The observations are mostly of a scenic nature but include comments on the ownership of estates and various architectural and antiquarian features. Sonnets of the author's own composition are included within the narrative. Classification of Scottish lakes according to their scenery. Accompanying the summary of routes given at the end of the volume are comments on the inns frequented.
