Administrative / Biographical History

The Drax Pension Charity was founded in 1915 to provide relief for six poor persons of good character living in the parish of Drax. The first meeting was held in the New Endowed School on 19 August 1915 and the first Chairman was Richard L. Walker.
The charity was closed in 2009.

Access Information

Records are open to the public, subject to the overriding provisions of relevant legislation, including data protection laws. 24 hours' notice is required to access photographic material.

Acquisition Information

The archive was gifted to the Borthwick Institute in 2020 by the family of the last Chairman of the charity.
