Administrative / Biographical History
Frank Brewer (1915-1987) worked in the Malayan Civil Service, 1937-1959,including as Secretary for Chinese Affairs and Deputy Chief Secretary, Federation of Malaya, 1955-1957 and Secretary for Defence, 1957-1959. He servedin the Special Forces during the Second World War, 1941-1945 and was held as aprisoner of war on Sumatra. From 1960 to 1976 he worked at the Foreign andCommonwealth Office. He was awarded the CMG in 1960 and the OBE in 1953. In 1950 hemarried Eileen Marian Shepherd.
