Short story: 'July and November'

Scope and Content

Manuscript draft, written in neat sloping hand, comprising 10pp on wove paper, the J. Whatman watermark appears on several pages. At the conclusion of the story the author has included the initials C. D. In a different hand it is written 'Mr C. Dodson Clapham Common'. The story demonstrates an interpretation of English societal attitudes towards morality, social status and honour.

Item is undated although information supplied upon purchase, and corresponding watermark, suggest c 1837

Little is known about the author of this story. Internal evidence suggests that the initials 'C.D.' correspond to Mr C. Dodson of Clapham Common.
